It is always exciting to change locations and, let me tell you, moving from the Pacific Northwest to the Southwest is a huge change. I chose some photos that capture some of my favorite things here in Arizona - cactus, skies, & flowers. (I tried to shoot the warmth, but couldn't get the focus just right.) ; )

A recent trip to Canada took me through Alberta and British Columbia. There are so many breath-taking scenes - around every turn in the road with mountains, lakes, rivers, & animals. I can only give you a glimpse of the magnificent, jaw-dropping beauty. Some of the power in this area is being surrounded by the vastness... I never get bored with driving through Jasper, etc.

Playing with black and white is fun for me. It makes you wonder what era the picture might be from - old or current?? I tend to want to explore the picture more closely to see if I can tell from details in the photo. I also love to focus the attention on the contents of the picture and not let the colors distract your eye. Structures lend themselves to b & w because the structure itself is outlined so definitely.

Summer is a time of relaxing, travel, family and fun for me. I love being outside enjoying the warm weather (and we actually got some this year...). During a recent trip to Canada, I found some more scenery that inspired me to take photographs... like that takes anything too awesome. Most are taken on the fly as we drove by - it's more challenging than stopping to take that perfect picture!!

I have been accused of being obsessed by water as I spend the summer in Oregon after being in Arizona for 6 months. I do miss the rivers, creeks, & falls that make Oregon so green... maybe not the puddles though! These pictures are taken on the Alsea River and at Alsea Falls.

After spending a day in Cascade Locks on the Columbia River in Oregon, I chose to share the river, and views from the island. Very special place to the Native Americans and such a beautiful scene... If you haven't ever visited the Columbia River Gorge, please put it on your wish list of vacation spots.
